Think back to a time you were so excited about something that you couldn’t keep it to yourself.  Perhaps it was the news that you were about to be a grandparent.  Or perhaps it was an answered prayer.  Maybe it was a job promotion or a scholarship that one of your kids received.  Whatever it might have been, you just had to share the good news with someone else or you felt that you would burst.

When I met Anita, we were working on staff together at a Christian camp in the mountains.  After that summer was over, I went back to work at a machine shop.  It was a tool and die plant that made gear parts and steel tubes that were used in the break systems for Caterpillar tractors.  I was the paint man.  Every day I’d come home Caterpillar yellow.  Well, I kept a picture of Anita with me, and every chance I’d get, I would show her off to some of the guys I worked with.  I proudly announced that I was going to marry her!

The point is that when you’re in love with someone, you can’t help but talk about them.  You want to spend time with them.  You want everyone else to know their value.

Perhaps our lack of witness for Christ ultimately stems from our lack of love for Christ.  When we really love the Lord Jesus, we talk about Him.  Our lives are centered around Him.  He occupies the supreme place of devotion in our hearts.  And He inevitably comes up in our conversation with those around us.  This week, I’m going to write a series of blog posts on how to share Christ with those around us.  Stayed tuned!
