Psalm 119:130
If you are a parent, then you know the pain and frustration of having to assemble some toy that you’ve bought for your child’s birthday. Yes, it is a form of purgatory…Not really, but I know you can identify. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve started out working on something, only to have to start over because in my impatience I failed to read the instructions. (Fortunately, I have a wife who is really, really good at putting things together.)
Apply this to your life in a spiritual sense. The more difficult our circumstances often are, the more we rely on our own wisdom. When we get into a jam, it is very easy for us to scheme our way out or even worry ourselves sick. All the while, our Bible remains closed. God allows us to get to a point of desperation so that we learn to trust in Him. The psalmist said that the unfolding of God’s words gives light and imparts understanding to the simple. When you get to the end of your rope, you’re in a good place to call upon the Lord. Seek the counsel of His Word. One of the best ways to get back on your feet is to first get down on your knees!
Father, help me to trust You today with the details of my life. By Your Spirit, lead me and give me wisdom. Instruct me according to Your Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
