Galatians 4:19
Did you know that every carpenter and construction worker has one primary tool that they use more than any other? They use it dozens of times a day and would be lost without it. This tool doesn’t require electricity or batteries for it to work, it’s not sharp like a saw, and requires very little effort to use. Have you guessed what it is yet? It’s a tape measure. Those of you who have had to build anything requiring angles and dimensions know the value of a tape measure. Without one, it would be almost impossible to make exact cuts. At best, you could only estimate and make cuts that might be close, but never exact. To build anything with any type of precision requires some type of measuring device like a tape measure.
As the master Builder, God has a ‘tape measure’ that He applies to your life as a Christian. He wants you to be like His Son! We call this ‘sanctification’ or growth that comes through a life of discipleship. Without exception, God has a goal for your life that involves forming you into the image of Jesus. Being mature in Christ is the goal that God has for every disciple. What this means is that slowly, over the process of time, we will begin to think like Jesus, act like Jesus, and see things as Jesus would see them.
God’s Spirit uses God’s Word and conforms me to the image of God’s Son.
