Within this passage, the disciples return to Jerusalem after having witnesses the Lord’s ascension into heaven. They enter into the upper room where they have been meeting to pray and wait. Luke will mention the disciples by name, as well as the fact that they are joined by several others. The text reveals that they are faced with a critical decision that will require prayer and God’s guidance. This decision serves as the first major event that the fledgling group of believers will face, and many more will be on the way. So the passage teaches us much about discerning the will of God for our lives. There are at least four ‘keys’ to knowing the will of God that we find in the text.
