The Bible tells us that parents transfer their values, both the good and the bad, from one generation to the next. That’s why raising children is a sobering responsibility that has life-long consequences. What our children come to learn about God, life priorities, marriage, and family, they largely learn from what they have seen in our lives as their parents. The Bible has so much to say about the importance of one generation forming the next and the responsibility that parents have to lead their children in the truth. One of the most important passages where this is emphasized is here in Deuteronomy 6.
